Christophe MignonFestigny, Vallée de la Marne

Producer profile
PL "dedicated and conscientious viticulturist" making meunier-based champagne from 6 hectares of vineyards in Festigny and Le Breuil. Most of Mignon's wines are pure meunier but he usually blends the two terroirs, taking advantage of the characteristics of each. "The wines of Festigny are a little fruitier". The cooler "Le Breuil has a little more acidity, more structure, and less ripeness". "Complex and expressive" wines, "showing a ripe depth of fruit and pronounced mineral signature". Not mentioned in TyS or ToS.

Tasting notes

@gaiwanstyle Brut Rosé. 2013 and 2014 pinot meunier, disgorged December 2019. Fresh expanding cork. Vivid color tending toward copper, very saturated. Generous mousse and small bubbles. Excellent nose, not especially toasty but somehow sophisticated, chalky, faintly hinting of soft washed-rind cheese. Pleasant ripeness, sweetening as it warms but retaining its acidic counterpoint. Enjoyed from Zalto Universal glass in spring 2020. ⭐
