Tasting notes

@gaiwanstyle Le Nombre d'Or Sablé Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature 2012. Disgorgement date June 2017 clearly printed on the back label. Easy fresh cork. Pretty bottle of unusual frosted glass with a yellow label. Warm and luminous. Fairly interesting nose: toasty and flinty. Hint of green pear, maybe papaya jam. Very dry, taut, and linear. Moderate mousse with less air on the palate, a pleasant quality. Well-developed scent but flavor feels restricted. This is surprising given the inclusion of old grape varieties arbanne and petit meslier. Still a lovely wine. Enjoyed over two nights in Zalto Champagne and Universal glasses. TT 2017 Champagne catalog page 42 (compare with another 2012 blend). Purchased at Molly's Spirits in summer 2020 for $73. ⭐
@gaiwanstyle Ivoire et Ébene 2012 Brut. Beautiful label with a cool pearly sheen. Strongly scented with unusual associations: young Emmenthaler, Concord grape jelly, oaky chardonnay. This is overtly oaky. Unflattering association with a catered Californian chardonnay. The amount of oak is distracting. Very dry and unforgiving. Remained dry and closed the following day. Blaringly oaky and very harsh. Even Zalto Bordeaux glass couldn't mellow this out. TT 2018 Champagne catalog page 44. Purchased at Molly's Spirits in summer 2020 for $47.
